PLEASE NOTE: At this time, Jersey City is currently waiting for the state of New Jersey to provide all available records. Once records become available, we will accept applications.

After nearly 15 years of having to obtain birth certificates from Trenton, residents can now receive without delay or additional costs.
For those born between 1918 - 2015, Jersey City will issue birth records from a database provided by the State’s registrar’s office. For those born in 2016 and after, Jersey City will use the State’s Vital Record Platform.  Click here to view the press release.

In order to obtain a birth certificate from the City Clerk’s office, residents must complete an application for certified copies. These are available in English and Spanish.
